Sean Brady enjoys the fight week process more today after foot infection

UFC welterweight Sean Brady enjoys the process of fighting more today after nearly losing his foot.

Sean Brady had his mind focused on his health rather than fighting after suffering a nasty foot infection earlier this year. But after receiving medical treatment and completing a full recovery, he has his mind focused on potential UFC stardom ahead of UFC Vegas 43.

Brady will face UFC veteran Michael Chiesa in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 43, in an important matchup for the welterweight division. Both men are looking to get back in the thick of things in the welterweight title picture.

Just months ago, Brady pulled out of his originally scheduled fight against Kevin Lee after a cut on his foot turned into a serious health scare. During his UFC Vegas 43 media day interview, Brady explained his newfound appreciation for MMA.

“Every session, every run, I was so grateful to be back,” Brady said of his camp. “There was a point in the hospital where I couldn’t run, and I thought I was going to lose my foot. Every time I would stand up, the pain I felt was excruciating.

“I laid there on my hospital bed and was so excited to get back eventually. I’m happy to be here. Cutting weight always sucks, but I’m enjoying every part of this and I’m ready to fight.”

Sean Brady has a big opportunity against top contender Michael Chiesa at UFC Vegas 43

Brady has been on an absolute tear, entering his fight with Chiesa with an undefeated record of 14-0. Since joining the UFC in 2019, he’s won four straight fights over the likes of Court McGee and Jake Matthews.

Brady will face a tough test in Chiesa, who is coming off of a tough loss to Vicente Luque at UFC 265. It was a wild fight that Chiesa nearly won with a submission before Luque reversed position and secured a first-round choke of his own.

There has always been quite a lot of hype surrounding Brady and his development in the UFC. If he’s able to get past Chiesa at UFC Vegas 43, he has the potential to be the dark horse of the 170-pound division.

UFC Vegas 43 takes place on Saturday, Nov. 20, live from the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, NV. Follow along with FanSided MMA, who is on-site, for all your news and highlights.
