Real Madrid’s legendary former goalkeeper Iker Casillas has finalised his divorce from the reporter he kissed live on television after winning the World Cup in 2010.
The Spaniard began dating the television presenter and journalist Sara Carbonero in 2009, with their relationship now over and the divorce agreed, according to reports in SPORT newspaper this week.
Casillas is said to have given away custody of their two children – Martin, seven, and Lucas, four – to Carbonero, with the ex-goalkeeper moving out of the family home and continuing to pay for their education.

The pair initially denied reports of their split but it has now become official at a Madrid court
Although the pair have split after five years of marriage, reports claim ‘love and family have prevailed’ in the separation, with relationships remaining friendly and Casillas able to visit the children ‘flexibly’.
The 39-year-old, who most recently played for Porto before retiring in 2020, has now moved to another house in the Moncloa-Aravaca district of Madrid, while his family remain in La Finca.
SPORT write that Casillas and Carbonero visited the Pozuelo de Alarcon court on April 6 to finalise their divorce and confirm the agreement going forward.
The pair were together for 12 years and famously enjoyed a romantic moment on live television when Carbonero interviewed the goalkeeper just moments after he had won the World Cup with Spain.
With the interview coming to an end, a clearly emotional Casillas grabs his wife-to-be’s face to plant a kiss on her lips, before walking out of shot.
The clip instantly went viral and catapulted the pair into the limelight for the years that followed.

Back in March of this year, though, just weeks after denying reports of their split, Casillas confirmed that they were going separate ways.
The former Spain International, who had to quit football after a heart attack, said in an emotional Instagram post in Spanish: ‘Both Sara and I feel enormously proud of the family we are and of having shared a love that has filled us with happiness during all our years together.
‘Today our love as a couple takes different but not distant paths since we’ll continue together in the marvellous task of continuing to be devoted parents as we have been up until now.
‘This is a well-considered decision which we have taken through mutual agreement.’·
